Jigdan College envisions to be one of the top ten Ethiopian higher education institutions by 2035.
Mission
Governed with the prescribed objectives in the Higher Education Proclamation 650/2009, Jigdan College is established to accomplish the following missions:
- Provide education in higher education;
- Conduct problem solving research;
- Support the community through professional engagements;
- Provide consultancy services.

Objectives
In order to achieve its missions and contribute the educated workforce to the national development, the specific objectives of the College include the following:
- Produce graduates at the undergraduate and graduate levels who can compete in the local, regional and international markets;
- Conduct and promote research focusing on priority areas;
- Provide community and consultancy services to the nearby community;
- Generate income through its education and consultancy programs that would enable the college prove its institutional sustainability.

Guiding Values
1. Quality
Every activity of individuals or functional units in the College, academic or supportive should gear towards demonstrating quality and relevant service
2. Participation
There is no an individual business in any of the endeavors made towards the College’s success. Everyone has to have the opportunity to view one’s own ideas from planning to implementation.
3. Team work
It is in rare cases that an institution can prove its efficiency based only on isolated efforts. Rather it is when individuals put their minds and efforts together that effectiveness and efficiency are better enhanced.
4. Academic freedom
Intellectual activities can be effective and efficient only when the academic community is in an enabling and free academic environment. Exercising academic freedom shall be considered as a means for enhancing learning and other educational activities being carried out in the College.
5. Student centeredness
Every learning environment in the College has to be designed taking students’ perspectives and interests into consideration. This can help students to be actively engaged in the learning process and
enhances independent learning and self-reliance.
6. Collaboration
In materializing the College’s vision and missions, there shall be developed a culture of doing things in collaboration and partnership with external stakeholders which could be governmental or nongovernmental; internal or external; local or international.
7. Professionalism
Achieving educational objectives is highly dependent on the commitment of professionals involved in the implementation of academic activities. These professional are expected to carry out every academic activity governed with one’s professional ethics.
8. Integrity
This refers to the quality of being honest in carrying out the duties and responsibilities one is assigned for as well as acting truthfully and being genuine in all one’s activities.
